T200 vs T350

Today we’re looking at the brand new range from Titleist - particularly the Titleist T200 (the tour distance iron) and the Titleist T350, which is the game improvement iron from the Titleist lineup. We’ll be digging into the look, sound, feel and performance of the two irons. Watch our YouTube video for the full, in-depth review and comparison.

Looks

These two irons have greatly improved in looks in comparison to their old models, particularly the T350 - this new iron is a lot sleeker and classy. The T200 boasts a very similar, metallic and sleek appearance from the back. The dull, clunky sound of the club seems to have disappeared with the new acoustics brought about from the metallic material.

By the ball, the T350 is chunky, which is to be expected with a game improvement iron. The heel to toe looks bigger, as does the topline. T200 is classed as a tour distance iron, which can be seen with the slim and compact players shape.

Sound and Feel

The older T200 club received a lot of complaints  that it sounded clicky, high pitched and hollow. Straight off the bat, the sound on the T200 now is a lot more muted. There is still a fraction of a click to the sound, but a vast improvement nonetheless - a nice, solid sound. The T350 sounds more dull and muted, but overall, the sound and feel does not vary significantly between these two clubs.

Performance

Watch our YouTube video here to see the performance comparison in action, testing both clubs at Elite Performance Golf Studios! First up, we looked at the Titleist T200. The old T200 was one of our go-to heads for high launch and a little bit less spin. The more you hit with the new T200, the clearer it is how solid it is in comparison. The T350 feels really good. It’s a joy to hit.

Swing Speed Test (Slow)

Looking at a slower swing speed, the T200 is excellent. When testing, we were hitting very impressive swing speeds with the club, with a nice flight. The flight is always something that’s been impressive with a T200, and this newer version certainly continues that trend.
The T350 also feels great at a slower swing speed, with really good spin. See the YouTube video to view our direct comparison, with metrics from our slower swing speed test.
The first thing that jumped out from the slower swing speed test numbers that’s very impressive is the Peak Height and Descent was the same for both clubs - both 85ft and 44.5 descent angle for the T200 and T350 respectively. Considering the T350 is stronger in loft and has more mass to the lower end of the club, it does a fantastic job in retaining a great amount of spin - we get a bit more speed from T350 but the T200 brings a little more spin. Both clubs seem to be ticking all the boxes.

Swing Speed Test (Fast)

In terms of our faster swing speed test, we saw a similar pattern - a slightly faster ball speed from the T350. We’re seeing a little less launch now from the T350, but nothing significant. In terms of the two, not much of a backspin difference, launch is just under a degree less from the T350 which is expected, and just 4 yards of carry difference. The patterns are very similar comparing slow and fast swing speeds - very impressive from both clubs.

Forgiveness

Finally, we tested the forgiveness of both heads.
The T200 was up first. Our first thoughts were when you have a reasonably OK delivery (i.e. facing somewhat square, and misstrike it) the head is impressively forgiving.
When testing a very similar shot and strike with the T350, it felt much the same.
Forgiveness is relative - how much do we drop off? What’s a good amount and what’s a bad amount? In this instance, we tested two very toey strikes - with the T200 we had a 17 yard drop off, and with the T350 we had an 18 yard drop off. It’s a hard one to quantify, but the drop off from good to bad, from front to back, are somewhat similar.

Verdict

Some impressive numbers from both heads at both speeds - especially the T350 - this continues to surprise and impress us here at Elite Performance Golf Studios. The looks, sound, feel and performance are fantastic.
Honestly, the T200 span a little bit lower than we’d like to see from this kind of head. Comboing these irons is definitely feasible - the numbers were very close at similar spin speeds. We’re edging the T350 here, but super impressed with both.
