Titleist T100 vs Callaway Apex CB - Iron Comparison and Review

Watch our YouTube video for the full, in-depth review and comparison.

Today we’re putting the Titleist T100 up against the new Callaway Apex CB. Both of these players irons are no doubt some of the best in 2024, but which one will come out on top?

Look and Feel

First, we tested the Apex CB. Taking a look down by the ball, it’s a really lovely looking players iron. A nice, neat topline, frames the ball really well, with minimal offset. Not only does it look exactly how you’d want a players iron to look behind the ball, it also feels exactly how you’d want it to feel. Fully forged, cavity back design, solid with decent feedback. Looking at the T100, again, down by the ball, it’s exactly how you’d want a cavity iron to look like - thin topline, no offset - gorgeous! In terms of overall looks of the irons - they tick every single box and we would have to call it a draw!

In terms of feel and hitting, there’s not a huge amount between these two irons. We cannot call it between the two when testing them out - it’s so close. Both of them are exactly what you’d want from a forged, cavity back iron - soft, yet solid and responsive. You know where you’ve hit it, the feedback is great. Genuinely, if you hit these irons back to back, we can’t call it - it’s a draw!

We took 70 shots, flicking between the two irons, and we saw an even spread left to right and front to back - nothing standing out there at all. When looking at forgiveness, it’s much of the same. For both irons, there is not much tech, they are pretty traditionally forged cavity back irons - impressive! Looking at all the shots - whether thin, toey, ones we didn’t catch, the drop off that we got was exactly what we’d expect from both these irons - again, impossible to call!

Performance Numbers

It was always going to be close. We saw a little bit more ball speed from the T100 but this is negligible. The T100 launched a tiny bit lower on average. Spin-wise, both pretty much identical at around 6900, which created a ball flight which was also identical from a peak height and angle of descent perspective. When looking at standard deviation, the Apex CB did perform a little better, however this could have been down to our performance in practice! On average, we saw a couple more yards carry on average from the Titleist T100 due to the slightly faster ball speed.

The reality of the performance of these heads is they are too close - just pick which one you like best or come and get a custom fitting at EP Golf Studios!
