Titleist GTS2 vs GTS3 vs GTS4 Review (2025): Which Driver Is Actually Most Forgiving?
The new Titleist GTS driver lineup has officially landed — but which model is actually the most forgiving?
At EP Golf Studios, we put the Titleist GTS2, GTS3 and GTS4 drivers through an extensive real-world performance test using GCQuad launch monitor data to analyse how each driver performs across centred strikes and heavy mishits.
Because in modern driver fitting, forgiveness is not always as simple as the marketing suggests.
What We Tested in the Titleist GTS Driver Review
To compare the new Titleist drivers properly, we analysed:
Ball speed
Carry distance
Launch angle
Spin rates
Dispersion
Directional bias
Toe strike performance
Heel strike performance
Ball speed retention across the face
All testing was completed using GCQuad launch monitor technology — the same professional fitting system we use during custom driver fittings at EP Golf Studios in Newbury, Berkshire.
Which Titleist GTS Driver Is Most Forgiving?
This is where things became interesting.
Traditionally, golfers assume:
Higher MOI = more forgiving
Lower spin heads = less forgiving
Compact drivers punish mishits more
But our testing showed the reality is far more complicated.
In several scenarios:
Lower spin heads retained ball speed surprisingly well
“Forgiving” heads sometimes produced wider directional misses
Launch and spin consistency mattered more than expected
Certain mishits actually performed better in lower spin models
This challenges many common assumptions golfers have about driver forgiveness.
Does MOI Actually Tell the Full Story?
Not necessarily.
While MOI (Moment of Inertia) absolutely plays a role in stability, it does not automatically guarantee:
Straighter shots
Better carry distance
Improved dispersion
Better mishit performance
Real forgiveness depends on:
Strike location
Spin stability
Gear effect
Dynamic loft delivery
Player swing characteristics
This is exactly why professional driver fitting matters far more than simply buying the “most forgiving” driver on the market.
GTS2 vs GTS3 vs GTS4: Key Differences
Titleist GTS2
Designed as the higher MOI, more stable option with balanced launch and spin characteristics.
Titleist GTS3
A more adjustable head focused on fine-tuning launch, spin and shot shape control.
Titleist GTS4
The lowest spin option designed for players needing maximum spin reduction and more penetrating flight.
However, during testing, each head produced surprisingly different results depending on strike location and delivery dynamics.
What Happens on Toe and Heel Strikes?
This was one of the most important parts of the test.
Rather than only analysing perfect centre strikes, we intentionally tested:
Heavy toe strikes
Heel strikes
Extreme mishits
This revealed:
How much ball speed each driver retained
Which heads managed spin most effectively
Which drivers kept dispersion tighter
Whether “forgiveness” truly matched the marketing claims
And honestly… some of the results were unexpected.
Why Driver Fitting Matters More Than Ever
After thousands of fittings at EP Golf Studios, one thing is consistently true:
The “best” driver on paper is rarely the best driver for every golfer.
A properly fitted driver can:
Increase carry distance
Reduce spin inefficiencies
Tighten dispersion
Improve strike consistency
Maximise forgiveness for YOUR swing
The right head and shaft combination matters far more than simply choosing the newest release.
